Kerala - Kannur Rape case: man gets life term ...

KANNUR: A man found guilty in a case of rape and sexual exploitation of his minor daughter was handed life sentence by the Additional Sessions (Fast Track-II) Judge K.P. Indira at Thalassery on Wednesday.
The court also awarded varying jail terms to the other 10 accused in the case.
The court on May 5 had found all the 11 accused guilty in the case in which the victim’s father N.P.K. Harris (37) of Ayippuzha here was the first accused. He was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and slapped a fine of Rs.25,000 or three-year additional term if he failed to pay the fine.
He was also awarded a 10-year sentence and a fine of Rs.10,000 (or two-year additional term) under Section 120-B (conspiracy) and another 10-year term and a fine of Rs.10,000 (or three-year additional imprisonment) under IPC Section 366A (procuration of minor girls). He would undergo the sentences concurrently.
The Judge slapped five-year rigorous jail term and a fine of Rs.5,000 to eight other accused (from accused number three to 10). They are K. Harris (33), K. Prakashan (46), G. Dasan alias Kalidasan (28), C. Arun (27), K. Rafeek (34) V.P. Kamal alias Kuttan (27), E. Rajith alias Ranjith (31) and P.P. Rajeesh (31).
The accused number 11, P.P. Azeez (32), was given two years rigorous imprisonment under Section 354 (outrage of modesty) and slapped a fine of Rs.2,000.
